Poboktan Pass. July 5, 1944
Day dawned fine but clouded at mid
morning + by evening was raining hard.
In morning completed work on
caribou carcase [carcass] + brought in meat.
In afternoon examined + cleaned skull
+ worked on hide.
" " July 6/44 [1944]
Snowbound all day. Snowed steadily
to a depth of about 10 inches.
Brazeau Lake. July 7, 1944.
Came over the pass today - brilliant
sunshine about half the time.
Distance 13 miles, time 5 hours.
About 18 inches of new snow on the
pass + dirty going.
Down the creek this side of the pass
the willows + balsam have been
heavily moose worked.
Game seen 3 moose
1 elk
1 deer
1 coyote 1 marten.

Overcast in AM raiing all P.M.
In morning climbed sheep range north
of here. Jim worked west + I worked
east from creek that comes in at cabin. Jim
shot a [female symbol] coyote.
Deep snow on crest of ridge + on all higher
