[December] 17, 1944 Census:- Today in the area from Jasper to Lake Edith to Patricia Lake to 5 miles North of Jasper counted the following deer. ad [adult] [male symbol] spike [male symbol] [female symbol] ad. [adult] yr [yearling] [female symbol] fawns 4 3 16 3 7 Note that all the yearllng males seen were spike bucks instead of forks, the smallest had 4" spikes as thick as pencils the largest 8" to 10" spikes. This is almost certainly a sure sign of poor spring condition. Food:- 20 deer minutes on grass. Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] Dec.
