- Westwick Lake Thursday, September 8
Weather: fine
I spent the day collecting violet
plants. I saw a flock of 15-20
barn swallows more or less
mixed with a flock of 15-20
bluebirds, both [male symbol] and [female symbol]; a
yellow-bellied marmot, and a
cyote [coyote], and 1 young + 2 adult Ruffed Grouse.
The train was due to leave
at 11:50 P.M., but was late.
Vancouver Friday, September 9, 1955
Weather: fine until we got to
Squamish, where the western
part of the sky was covered
with clouds.
The scenery along the P.G.E. [Pacific Great Eastern Railway]
is magnificent.
Nancy [Mahoney] packed a box of
sandwiches, carrots and dried
fruit, which sustained us
until we got home at 8:30 P.M.
The Union Steamships were on
strike, so we had to take the
Barnshelle [?] to Horseshoe Bay, and
then the Pacific Stage to Vancouver.
