+ black-footed ferret.
F.H. Riggall of Twin Butte reports seeing 3 sage grouse
last year 10 miles S [South] of Cardston,
alta [Alberta]
On July 13 we went south to the
Belly River + interviewed warden
Christensen, wrote in afternoon.
On July 14 we drove to Cameron
Lake + hiked to Carthew Lakes + back
to town via Alderson Lake + creek.
En route found a colony of marmots
at upper [word crossed out] lower Carthew L. [Lake] + shot 3.
Saw a ptarmigan at the upper lake
+ collected it.
Fox sparrows common but hard to
collect, heard and saw a small spizella
with a song much shorter than taverneri
2 1/2 to 3 sec. [seconds] duration and phrased
Cree
whurrr
rrrrr.
was unable to collect it.
July 15. Stayed around town + took it relatively
easily.
July 16. Went out east to interview some of
the ranchers most troubled by the elk.
