12 Quail
1 Ruffed Grouse
2. Pigmy [Pygmy] Owls
6. Robins
2. Varied Thrush.
1 Steller's Jay
1 Towhee
4 Song Sparrows
1 Red-tailed Hawk.
4 Green-winged Teal
1 Mallard
10 winter wrens
Lake about 1/4 mile long, moist meadow
at north end, 1/2 acre, immediately surrounded
by alder and willow about 25 ft [feet] high.
Back of lake rocky bluffs with
arbutus + fir. In the moist hollows
large alder + cedar. Robins, jays
and varied thrushes feeding on arbutus
berries. Ruffed grouse eating
alder buds. Quail feeding in salal.
1 Kingfisher feeding on some
small crustaceans in lake.
Beecher Bay to Rocky Point
12 noon to 6 P.M. Bright sun,
no wind
Forest mainly of Douglas fir
immediately along shore interspersed
