Census. Weather warm, bright sun
after two bright moonlight
nights with minimum
temperatures of 40 [degree symbol]. The coldest
recorded temperature to date was
on Oct [October] 26, when minimum was
27 [degree symbol]. Light wind from the
north until noon + from S.W. [southwest]
in afternoon.
There was much sign of
nocturnal activity but though
we were in the woods at
dawn we saw no deer feeding
or on the move. All were
back from the water + bedded
down by 7 A.M.
Two of us hunted for about
5 hours + saw 11 deer.
1 doe.
1 doe + 1 ad [adult] sex unknown thought to be [male symbol]
2 sex unknown thought to be at least
one male.
