5" [inch] CLEAR-VU RAIN AND
SPRINKLER GAGE
The TAYLOR 5" [inch] rain gage is a
precision instrument, designed
for easy reading, 12 inches tall
with a rainfall capacity of 5
inches (127 millimeters in the
metric gage). The blackened
graduations, uniformly spaced
along the measuring tube,
stand out in bold relief. Each
graduation represents .05 inch
in the English scale, and one
millimeter in the metric scale
gage. To aid in rapid, accurate
reading, numerical values are
shown at quarter-inch intervals
on the English scale, and at 10
millimeter intervals on the
metric scale.
The collecting funnel, with its
sharply beveled edge, and an
area exactly twice that of the
receiving measuring tube, as-
sures accuracy comparable to
the larger "official type" gages.
It is made of clear, tough, buty-
rate, capable of taking severe
impact without shattering. It
will not crack or become brittle
with age. It can remain ex-
posed to the elements the year
round, since sub-freezing weath-
er will not damage the gage
and will give years of satisfac-
tory service.
