Scotch Camp. Aug. [August] 16/45 [1945]
Three large bulls on top of
Snow Creek Pass.
" Aug. [August] 17/45 [1945].
At timberline on Tyrrel Creek saw
10 bull elk. Of these 2 2 1/2 yrs [years]. 1 5 pt. [point]
rest 6 pt [point] bulls + several of them
very large animals.
Antlers:- One 6 pt [point] bull had his antlers
cleaned of the velvet. This is the
first seen this year.
No shed antlers more than a mile
or so up the creek. Apparently
the winter range is low down.
Near Divide Cr. [Creek] Cabin Bruce Mitchell
counted 18 elk including 9 bulls, 4 cows
+ 2 calves. On Peters Cr. [Creek] he saw 5
more bulls.
A year ago this spring Harrison
saw cows low down on Snow Creek,
not far above Windy Cabin.
Paradise Mine. Aug [August] 28/45
Elk reported not uncommon on the
Selkirk side of the valley.
