Noteable [notable] absences are Populus.
Cornus nuttalii, Cascara, Acer,
Prunus, Betula, Abies, Pseudotsuga
Linnea borealis.
The muskeg flora is interesting.
It is dominated by Ledum + in dryer
places Juniperus [underlined] communis. There
is very little Kalmia. A small
vaccinium is quite common +
Empetrum [underlined] is a codominant.

Patrolled north to 7 mi [miles] w [west] of Tlell.
Weather fine except for a few
scattered line storms in the late
afternoon. Had supper at the
Dunes run by a Mr + Mrs Slagboom.
Had with me 2 representatives of
Finning machinery Co. [Company] Maurice Young,
+ W. Holmes. both of Vancouver.
Hiked about a mile up the
S [south] end of the old road looping
off to the west [space left blank] miles from
here. It passes through dense
second growth spruce under which
nothing green grows except 2 species
of ferns which I collected
Shot + examined a deer + a [male symbol]
grouse.
