  • the classical masters and has attained an independence which is sensitive to modern times. Chinese painting is marked by its pluralism fueled by contacts with the outside world and by Chinese artists travelling overseas to broaden their artistic horizons. Chinese painters with their infinite palette and ability of metamorphosis have finally become major players in and contributors to current world art movements and have carved out a rather successful niche in the commercial art market on a global level. At home, the tradition of collecting painting has had a long history in China and now with a more prosperous China, more people than ever before are collecting paintings.
