Two days ago in the open spruce
forest near the warden cabin we
put up a group of these ptarmigan
consisting of a [male symbol] ad [adult] [female symbol] ad [adult] + 5 young.
all but 2 of the young were collected.
Crop contents of 4 consisted of
crowberry 10%
grouseberry 85%
Birch buds + misc. 5%
One contained 100% Equisetum arvense [underlined].
Today among the stunted balsams
near the cabin we ran into
another covey consisting of 2 ad [adult] [male symbol]
2 ad [adult] [female symbol] + 2 young. Adults weighed
as follows [male symbol] 1 lb [pound] 5 oz. [ounces]
[male symbol] 1 " [pound] 2 oz. [ounces]
[female symbol] 1 " [pound] 1 oz [ounce]
[female symbol] 15 oz. [ounces]
