July 5. 1936. 10 Mile Lake, Quesnel B.C. [British Columbia]
Today it rained very little,
most of the day was quite warm
so that toward evening the
mosquitos were very bad.
Examined grebe nest again. Second
egg hatched + saw male carrying
youngster on its back. Took
Warbling vireo - one of a pair,
[male symbol] + [female symbol] Magnolia Warblers, Junco
+ 2 Hermit Thrush. Our lone
Ruffed Grouse is still drumming
for 1/2 hr [hour] or so each evening
starting at 8 o'clock or shortly
before.
Young crows + young thrush
are just out of nest, also
Ruby crowned Kinglets. Have seen
no Calliope Hummers [Hummingbirds] or Sapsuckers
yet, Both were common 4 years
ago. The Abies here is A. [Abies]
