the leaky old tub the other old
crook had passed off on us.
In afternoon rowed round to
Tofino + brought back a load
of mail + supplies. Saw several
cormorants. but none with
crests. Started to rain about
mid afternoon. Mr [Kenneth] Racey got
May 14. Grant came around to [sentence crossed out]
his sealskin from Towler +
Mitchell [store], It is a beauty, an
adult female. I was talking
to Mr [Edward] Armstrong who traps
at the head of Kennedy Lake
every winter, he goes up there
in August or Sept. [September] every year
but his mail will reach him
c/o C.A. Elkington. He can get
us all the weasels + marten
we want. Last year he got 8 c [cents]
for marten + 10 c [cents] for weasel.
May 14 [1931]. Grant came round in his
boat at about 9 o'clock + towed
us up to Mud Bay float, a
distance of about 10 miles. From
here we rowed about a mile
up a winding slough and made
camp on a grassy spot at the head.
Lunch over we walked over to
Long beach, this is a long crescent
shaped beach 12 miles in extent
