at 10 o'clock + drove to Devona returning
about 6:30.
En route saw.

Mt. [Mountain] Sheep. 169.
Deer 60.
many Squirrels
15 Bluebirds.
8 Mallard.
6 Geese
10 Crows
many. Slate colored Juncos.
heard 2 coyotes.
Jasper. April 17/43 [1943]
Left Jasper 9 AM. Drove down to
Entrance by way of air field + Henry House
flats. Stopped on river flats just below
Snaring. Lots of moose sign +
willows badly chewed up. Along
Talbot lake all deciduous trees or rather
all aspen + willow dead or removed.
Possibly the willows + young trees are the
result of Elk or moose activity while
the older trees have been taken down by
beaver - colonies largely deserted.
Same at mile 28 but elk scarce
there + moose perhaps responsible.
