went down initially to about 3 ft [feet]
+ then rose gradually over its

this den weighed as follows:

At Hillsdale found 3 old dens
+ one with much recent fur around
the entrance but no droppings to
indicate occupancy by a litter.
Saw one ad [adult] coyote at mile 10.

5 miles east of town we ran into
3 coyotes an old [female symbol] very mangy +
2 pups that looked to be slightly
mangy. They were very tame
+ permitted close approach.

5 miles E. [east] of town saw 3 ad [adult] + 2
pup coyotes. Ran the pups down
+ put tags on them.
Both were dogs + about the same
age as the Kootenay pups but they
were badly manged + though not
skinny seemed runted. They
weighed as follows.
