Wells has seen in 20 years about
10 coyotes killed by cougar + in
most instances they were at cougar
kills.
A female he was following in
one day killed and ate a coyote
+ later pulled down a deer.

Examined remains of a doe deer killed
just behind the upper cabin on Medicine
Lake. Though Ed Macdonald was in
the cabin + the kill took place less
than 10 yards from it he heard
no sound.

F.H. Riggall of Twin Butte reports very
few lions in this area. Two or
three sets of tracks are seen in
a couple of winters around Yarrow
Cr. [creek] + Pass Creek.

Alec Nelles tells me that he has weighed
several Mt [mountain] lions. One old male
in poor condition weighed 171 lbs. [pounds]
a small ad [adult] [female symbol] 90 lbs. [pounds] Average
[female symbol] about 140 lbs. [pounds] Largest [male symbol] estimated
at 200 lbs [pounds], this animal had hunted
for 4 days before making a kill
