arriving at 11:30.
Okanagan Landing. Aug. [August] 4/49 [1949].
Spent the day on Swan Lake
with J. A. Munro. We made
a complete circuit of the lake
and noted:-
Redhead [female symbol]'s + 6 1, 5 2, 5 2, 7 2
Mallard 75 +/-
Pintail 30 +/-
Blue wing Teal. [female symbol] + 5 1, 4 3, 5 2, 3 2, 8 3, 6
and 18 adults.
Green wing Teal. [female symbol]'s + 5 3
Gadwall [female symbol] with brood in rushes
Ruddy [female symbol]'s + 4 2, 7 2, 3 alone.
There were also about 15 +/- pairs
of Western grebe accompanied
by young varying from small
downies to 1/2 grown birds.
Coots [underlined]:- about 450 adults and
young. One pair had 3 small
downies.
Black-necked grebe:- 21 nests with
eggs in a group in an exposed
bed of Potamogeton at the SE. [Southeast]
end of the lake.
