- Journal.
Trip on M.V. Ebkoli May 17-24, 1963.
May 17/67 [1963] Departed Vancouver 11:00 hrs. [hours] sun, west
wind 20 knots. Proceeded to Malaspina
channel + there made one haul on
Sinclair Bank at 90 fath [fathoms]. Bottom mud, clay
+ stones. Tried the trawl but had no luck
in keeping it on bottom.
Moored for the night in Blubber Bay
21:00 hrs. [hours]
May 18/63 [1963] Left mooring at 07:30 hrs. [hours] + dredged around
Algerine Passage, Montgomery Bank, in the
190 fath [fathom] hole on E [east] side of main channel then
over to the ship channel 2 mi [miles] N [north] of Kukushan
Point at 55 fath [fathoms]. This was an excellent
haul, very rich. The main dredge contents
consisted of sand holes of a polychaete or a
Phoronid.
We made another attempt at the same
(approx [approximate]) depth about 2 miles north but
ran off the good bottom onto boulders
+ tore the dredge bag losing the contents
except for half a dozen st [crossed out] green urchins.
Proceeded to Campbell River where we moored
at 18:00 hrs.
