Two nests 3' appart [apart] had 10 eggs each. Others had 5, 7, + 8 eggs. Also. - an abandonned [abandoned] nest of 5 egg - 2 of them eaten. This nest had been flooded out. -two places found where 4 mallard (?) eggs had been eaten by crows. Must consider possibility of their coming from flooded nests. June 9 Alkali flats. Nest (#11) 9 eggs wet meadow [words crossed out] on flats - wet site beneath small spruce Nest (#7) covered - under small spruce - wet site (#5) - wet hay meadow by bog birch - 7 eggs (#4) - " " " " by tiny willow - 12 eggs (#3) " " " by willow bush - 11 eggs (#2) " " " in hummock - 9 eggs - Andy Christianson saw brood of 6 newly hatched young. - our first duckling data June 10 Alkali flats Nest (#1) in wet hay meadow - grass hummock - 4 eggs no down (#6) " " " " at base 6' jack pine - 9 eggs
