  • Oreamnos. [underlined] Healy Cr. [creek] June 17/43 [1943] 2 goat + 2 single large goat. Of these 17 goat one for sure + possibly 2 were yearlings. The two large groups were bedded well out in the open on the slides. One of the others was in an overhanging almost cave-like spot on a cliff face. No goats seen on the N. [north] slope of the hills though there are trails visible. Winter:- Looks to me as if this might present some good winter range. June 18/43 [1943] On the above hillside the goats definitely winter. I climbed up to 7500' [feet] + on the way investigated the cave visible from below This cave goes back about 30 ft [feet] + the entire floor + entrance is from 4" [inches] to 2 ft [feet] deep in goat droppings. Food:- Found where goat had been browsing the following. woolly yellow legume (heavy) purple flowered grass. " [heavy] a second species of " [purple flowered grass] " [heavy] shrubby cinquefoil (med.
