Drove down to Devona stopping en route
to lay out the sites for some exclosure
plots.
Absolutely no sheep on the lower
benches any more though a few ewes
+ young rams could be seen on the
higher ridges. No fresh coyote sign.
" June 5, 1946.
Shopping in morning + in afternoon
climbed to the Eagles nest at 6 mile
+ worked the Maligne range returning
" June 6, 1946
Rain confined us to camp in morning,
in afternoon examined very active
beaver colony on Pyramid Creek just
below the Lake.
" June 7, 1946.
Hiked into upper Medicine Lake to
examine a [male symbol] grizzly shot by Warden
[Edward] Macdonald. In evening patrolled
to summit above Beaver Lake
4 Amer. [American] Mergansers + 2 or 3 Barrows
Goldeneye on Beaver Lake.
Avifauna of Climax spruce forest at
5000'. Hudson Chickadee, Golden Cr. [Crowned] Kinglet
Amer [American] 3 toed Woodpecker, Tree creeper, Varied
Thrush. + Olive backed Thrush. Horned
owl.
