- Translated transcription: It does not prove difficult for her to put her decision into practice. The far-reaching, unpopulated forests and wild meadows surrounding the scattered farms are home to wolves, who roam about hungry and bold, and other large wild game.
Armed only with an axe, which she does not make use of, the young girl meets the wolf, which she tempts to attack her. Without fear of the salivating jaws and furious eyes she forces it down and strangles it with her hands clenched about the animal’s throat.
Surprised herself by what she has accomplished here, she later teases the powerful bear, forcing it to defend itself. This time she kills the wild beast with only the short spear she so favours, as she fearlessly closes in on the furred fighter.
