Sandspit:- Aug. [August] 23/46 [1946]
Patrolled the beach + spit at low tide
while Charlie [Charles J. Guiguet] beat the grass bordering
the air strip + then worked the N. [North] end
of the beach. Between us we saw
1 Curlew, 5 Buff-breasted Sandpipers + 1
Pectoral Sandpiper, many least + western,
12 semipalm. [semipalmated] Plovers + 1 Bairds sandpiper
5 Ruddy Turnstone 4 Black Turnstone,
60 +/- Pintails.
In evening drove to Copper Bay. On the
way shot 3 of 6 Tattlers + saw 2 spotted
Sandpipers. There we heard + saw
another saw-whet owl, shot 2 bats
+ green winged teal.

Skinned until noon + then worked
the beach. Several hundred glaucous
w. [winged] gulls. Shot 1 golden plover, 1
semipalm [semipalmated] plover, 1 Buff-breasted sandpiper,
2 dowitchers. Saw many least + western,
1 Baird, 5 Black + 4 ruddy turnstones
1 Peales falcon. Shot 3 hairy woodpeckers, tree creeper.
In evening Charlie [Charles J. Guiguet] hunted owls +
shot one Myotis californicus + a buck deer.
Sandspit Aug. [August] 25, 1946 [1946].
Drove to Copper Bay about mid-
morning + spent the day there. Very
little bird life to be seen, an eagles
nest with 1 ad [adult] + 1 yng [young] near by, 1 heron
