On the dry ground the leaves
are smaller + the pigment
darker - is the nutritive or
mineral content different
Fir growing on good soil
at low elevations is seemingly
little damaged by deer, while
the trees on poor, sunbaked
areas where the stand is thin
are browsed to a dome shaped
shrub.
Deaths. 2 eagles + 2 ravens feeding
on a recently dead carcas [carcass].
Found the bones of a 3 mos [months]
buck + two old deer - one a
doe. In no instance had
the bones been chewed by a
large carnivore.
