Assembled our outfit + wrote
letters. In evening Aleck [Alex] Nelles
came with the information that
he had found an active coyote den
at Mile 14, n [north]. We dug into
it for 36' before losing the
burrow.
Emigrants Peak. June 21/46 [1946].
Today left Jasper at 9:30 +
by way of Caledonia Lake and Minnow
Lake arrived at the campsite here
at 4 o'clock. Heavy rain once
on way here + dense overcast
by mid morning persisting tonight.
Along Caledonia Lake saw Song Sp. [Sparrow],
Lincoln Sp [Sparrow] -, Yellowthroat + Red wing.
At Minnow Lake a yellowlegs + a
Solitary Sandpiper took alarm, saw
also ruby crowned kinglet, Black Poll
Warbler and Canada Jay.

High winds + sleet showers all
day. Worked some of the timberline
country around here + found
Golden crowned sparrows numerous -
heard about 12 singing [male symbol]'s in a mile
and a half along with 1 [male symbol] Gambels
4 Timberline [Brewer's] + 2 Fox sp [sparrows]. The latter
have fledglings out of the nest
Saw also 1 mt. [mountain] Chickadee, 1 Clarkes Crow
