Jasper. June 14/44 [1944]
Yesterday + today were marked by
almost uninterrupted rain. Yesterday
we drove to the end of the Pallisades
look out + then hiked up to
the summit. It was snowing on top
+ very cold. Up there hermit
thrush were common whereas at
the level of Pyramid Olive-backed
Thrush were singing.
On all the lower levels elk
+ deer have been grazing heavily
Along the trail near the top there
was much recent sheep sign.
Today we stayed indoors most
of the time working on our outfit
+ odd jobs but this afternoon
drove north to dissect the elk shot
yesterday + then patrolled the Edith
Lake - Maligne flats.
Game Seen 31 elk all new
9 deer
Two pairs of white-winged
scoters seen one on Patricia, one on
Pyramid.
