  • 44 evening went up to the store with our mail. Aug [August] 13 [1931] Traps in spruce woods did not function well, the only capture being a 3/4 grown Euotomys. My Phenacomys traps took one 3/4 grown animal. Set out 5 more traps for phenacomys in the afternoon. Also went up to the store for mail. Aug. [August] 14 [1931]. This morning I lifted all the traps + snares in the spruce woods. They held a dusky shrew, a peromyscus + a large weasel. My phenacomys traps held 2 adult female phenacomys + one adult male. In the afternoon Mrs [Kenneth] Racey [Kathleen Eileen Louise Stewart], Joyce [Racey] + I went across the river, where I set several mouse traps The spruce + pine stands over there look much more promising for Flying Squirrels than any I have yet seen Saw a flock of Mountain [underlined] Bluebirds + several Solitaires [underlined]
