- Ondatra Kill:- Henry Stewart reports 1945-46 kill 1900 trapped + shot 1946-47 just under 1000 of which 235 shot. Ice did not go out until June 5. [A.E.] Parsild says that rats wander so much he is sceptical of the efficacy of the registration system. Aklavik. July 20 + 21/47 [1947] At Boxer's. #3 lake has fallen until it is nowhere more than 4 ft [feet] deep + is now 3 separate lakelets. The shore is margined by dense stands of Equisetum limosum [underlined] in water to 12 inches deep + heavy growth of grass in about the same depths. Dense stands of Carex aquatilis [underlined] occupy certain shallower areas. In slightly deeper places Potamageton richardsonii [underlined] and Myriofilum [underlined] [Myriophyllum] are abundant, 3 lesser Potamagetons + an aquatic ranunculus are less abundant but form dense stands in some places.
