- the shade temp [temperature] on the bluff nearly
was 80 [degree symbol] that of their beds was
66 [degree symbol]. Beds were on top of
skunk cabbages. + 15 feet from
each other.
10:25 On N. [North] maple swamp old doe
and yearling scented me + ran
fairly steadily with tails erect
over hill 1/4 mile away. I was
within 50 yards of them.
Jumped old doe out of bed under
log in partial shade on open hillside
she had heard me but was unable
to locate me, tail not erect,
made her way slowly up hill
+ up wind.
11: AM. Watched old doe feed slowly
across burn up hill + finally
bed down at 11:10 under
an upturned tree stump looking
out over the circle. When I
moved on she saw me +
through the glasses I could see
her watching. I think this was
the same doe as I disturbed at 10:25
distance between two beds about
1/4 to 1/2 mile.
