  • Canvasback. July 10/48 [1948]. Lac La Hache Found a dead juv [juvenile] partly plumaged. Examined it for injuries + grass parasites without noting anything. Broods seen so far are all recorded in Journal. July 24/48 [1948] 105 Lake. One brood taken today were 3/4 the size of the parent + fully feathered except for the wings. Aug [August] 19/48 [1948]. Rush Lake The Canvasbacks taken today were of adult size but still readily identifiable by their eye color. Brown instead of red.
