Plan No. 5 of the Nass River Indian Reserve, Coast District
PublicSurveyed and drawn by F.A. Devereux, 1890-1891. [Signed by P. O'Reilly, Indian Reserve Commissioner, no date.] [Approved by F.G. Vernon, Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works, 4 May, 1892.] Based upon the district name in the plan title, this land was originally part of Coast Land District. Map showing many Reserves situated along Observatory Inlet connected to Nass River and its Hastings and Alice Arms including: Reserve No. 20 (Kinmeliz) located on the banks of Salmon Cove; Reserve No. 21 (Slooks) located near Dawkins Point; Reserve No. 22 (Staqoo) on Staqoo River; Reserve No. 23 (Ktsinet) by Perry Bay; Reserve No. 24 (Gizault) where Gizault River meets the Alice Arm of Observatory Inlet; Reserve No. 25 (Wit-Zim-A-Gon) with a note next to it saying "This is not an I.R."; Reserve No. 26 (Tack-U-An) located on the Hastings Arm of Observatory Inlet and Lake Shnow-Een; Reserve No. 27 (Ksh-Wan) on Ksh-Wan River connected to the Hastings Arm; and Reserve No. 28 (Scow-Ban). Also included is an inset map showing a Reference Map with all the locations of these reserves all together. Land cover and features described on the map include soil types, spruce, hemlock, salt marshes, and trails.
