- Jan 8 Friday. Nancy had flu. So left job to me. Early to Belleville: to effect discharge. 'Grateful though unreasonable'. Dr. Green-Armytage could not have been nicer. Took J. to 2 Beaumont St. Mary sick again. Laura sent her off. Honor volunteered to help. Stopped night after cooking supper. Visit of 'Mrs Richard Hughes'. Katherine Vandevelde came. She & Laura talked over a 'woman' scenario. She told me that after my scenario of Claudius a) Biro had stewed a month making it cinemalizable. b) Von Sternberg had wanted to make his own version. c) June Head having made 1/2 a Biro translation was now making a v.S translation. d) Zuckmayer is called in again.
