ABSTRACT: Lt-Gen H.D. Graham, 24 September 1970. 29pp. Impressions (1933) of Maj-Gen Pearkes. He was able to enthuse the troops in the pre-war militia. Exercises in England. The Dieppe controversy. Pearkes as G.O.C. Pacific Command. Politics in Ottawa during the conscription crisis. Efforts by the military to obtain overseas volunteers. Trouble when some officers spoke to the Press in Vancouver. Pearkes as an M.P. and Min. of National Defence. Equipment problems.
