Dundon Beacon Hill, back of the Giant's head
PublicA watercolor painting of Dundon Beacon Hill, back of the Giant's head, near Somerton, Somerset; with Japanese inscription and stamp in black and red paint located in the lower right corner. The painting depicts a blue sky covered with large white clouds, a large craggy hill in the mid-ground and small outcroppings of rocks in the foreground. While the back of the painting has been written upon in pencil by Katharine Maltwood, it is likely that the painting itself was created by her cousin the Anglo-Japanese painter, Elizabeth Yeend Duer, due to the presence of Japanese characters. Handwritten in pencil on the verso: "Dundon Beacon Hill back of the Giant's head near Somerton, Somerset, England"
