  • Oct 20 Wednesday To London in car with Harry & Laura. Saw 2 flats: one belonging to Mrs Pembroke Stevens (war correspondent) opposite North gate of Zoo, one to Wing Commander Gayford at 31 Alma Square. Decided on return (talking late at night) on latter. Alan with us all day: lunch at Zoo: saw gorill. orang-utang being teased; & dromedary being taught to dance by man who gave it oranges. Six steel buttons from Mr. Mills for 3/-. Fog patches on way back. Alan thinking of marrying Beryl. Margaret Russell has given notice to the Woods.
