PublicThe Prison News Network (PNS) focuses on political trials, repressive abuses of imprisonment and the resistance to such oppression. It was joined with another existing prison periodical called Marionette made by prisoners for prisoners and the general public to spread awareness of the conditions prisons, Marion Penitentiary, Illinois in particular.
PNS editors: Bill Dunne and Jim Campbell. Article topics include: Dhoruba al-Mujahud bin Wahad (born Richard Moore, 1945) released from prison after 19 years. While incarcerated, he learned about Congressional hearings that disclosed the existence of a covert F.B.I. operation known as COINTELPRO. In December 1975 he filed a lawsuit against the F.B.I. and the police department of the City of New York. Wahad's conviction was reversed on March 15, 1990 ("Finally out" by Sekou Odinga) -- Governance dispute and deaths at Akwesasne-St Regis ("Mohawk nation divided: conflict at Akwesasne" by Bulldozer) -- Bill Dunne voices his concerns about FreeNow! movement ("Freedom now! follies) -- Open letter to the National Campaign for Amnesty and Human Rights for Political Prisoners (Freedom now) -- "Indonesian justice" discusses the plight of political prisoners sentenced to death -- The U.S. Supreme Court continues to make rulings limiting the ability of prisoners sentenced to death to appeal (Supreme imperial court of death) -- Prisoner demonstrations at Strangeways Prison in Manchester, England, the Risley Remand Center, and Clallam Bay Corrections Center.
