Plan of Lillooet, British Columbia
PublicSurveyed by Duffey, Brekenridge, and Goskirk in 1860 and drawn by White in 1861, this map shows the plans for the town of Lillooet located on the banks of the Fraser River with the Cayoosh River bordering one side. The town has many numbered plots of land of various sizes and with some organized into blocks. Detailed relief marks and shading show the land forms surrounding the town and river. There are many features named on the map including "Chinaman" flat gold washing, "Indian" burying ground in the middle of the town, reserves, gold wasjing areas, ferries, a reservoir, Black Rock island, and a sluice to gold washing benches. There is a note stating that the Block V. Suburban lands were added on Nov 1, 1867 and that the roads and trails marked on this map are approximate and can be altered by the government at any time.
