• Dec 14 Tuesday 14 pages Belisarius last chapter. With Laura to lunch with Marguerite (late) 10/- taxi to Winchmore Hill, trams & things back. Worked very late & then read O'Conroy's book about Japan. Harry & Alix to supper (prepared for John & Lucie who had a 'slight car accident') Maisie explained about the broadcast. * Nankin has fallen. Government offensive at Teruel, Franco's advertized one not having come off.
