Letter from Saul Holiff to Johnny Cash, 31 October 1967

Public

Letter from Saul Holiff to Johnny Cash about his financial trouble. He tells him that he was humiliated when Cash confronted him about record sales at a recent show and implied that Holiff had taken some of the profit for himself. Holiff reminds him that Cash has caused his own financial issues in a variety of ways: adding the Carters and Carl Perkins to his show, making exorbitant purchases, and settling his divorce. Tells him that although he has agreed to let Cash cut his commission, Cash must also curb his expenses too. Used in Michael Streissguth's "Johnny Cash: The Biography" (2006), pp. 135-136.
