Badge of the Chinese Empire Reform Association
PublicA photograph of the badge of the Chinese Empire Reform Association, or in Chinese, Baohuanghui, meaning "The Society to Protect the Emperor". The badge includes the image of the Guangxu emperor. Above his image are the flags of the associations (left) and the national flag of late Qing China (right). On the two sides of the emperor's image are the initials of the English titles of the association (CERA) and the Chinese phrase, "保皇會同志", meaning "Comrades of the Society to Protect the Emperor." The badge was worn by its members. It was one of the items placed into the time capsule of the association's new headquarters at 1715 Government Street in 1905, and discovered by the owner of the building during recent renovations.
