- Oct 7 Friday. A reckless letter from David G. impertinent to me, impertinent to Laura. We both answered suitably. David has helped Dorothy fix up a big oak modelling stand in her chapel. Alan & I knocked holes in the an old bucket Leonie found in the well and made a cresset of it – the smoke escaped from the holes in the belfry and dislodged several bats. S. Ghost chapter IX, and Dictionary with Alan.in Leonie made galettes – we bought a round iron galette pan, and a flat turning-stick and a thing like a croupier's rake for the edges. We read Wodehouse's Summer Moonshine aloud in the evenings now. Laura on Aristotle , Damage , a children's story, Ghost .
