- July 15th, Monday. Bartolome the Mason fixing gauze door at Canellun entrada : he worked all day at it. Salted green tomatoes. Mended leaky ice-chest. Wired two old plates at Posada & hung up 3. Ordered primus shelf again: and the flat stone arrangement in garden which is being tidied by Antonio Salas. Miguel doing shutters. Wrote to Harrison S. about 'Majorca home' & also about Richards' book. Sea: got nut-crackers for Posada from beach. (General Barcelo arrived with his noisy family.) Made coffee ice, this time weighing out kilo of salt & breaking it fine. A success. Sent off I,C. , & C the G to Miss W.: bound copies, in hope of getting that £100 cheque Wrote to A.B. mentioning Korda's decision. Started poem about liquorice. Cellar-net-doorbeingfixed. Carl's two wires arrived at same time: “Fed up: returning Monday” & “Don't laugh staying till Friday.”
