- May 2 Thursday F.V.C. all morning. Exhausting kitten-hunt with Alice in afternoon: she misled us and we found nothing. Read Apollonius. A dull day. In evening started A Foreign Land . The mats came for entrada . Gelat undertook to get oak or walnut for making a round table. next page. To sea with Karl & Salamo: bathed. Hurried back to prepare sandwiches & tea for Strenge & Schwarz (Beefsteak ground with onion & lettuce & pimento) With them till 8 [p.m.], quite tired by so much German talk. Pinks at their best. Roses eaten by tumblebugs
