- Ap 20 Thursday First full length bath for 10 months. Walked with Laura in streets & at a fairy antique shop bought silver cloak clasp 60 francs 2 assignat notes 5 francs 2 but blue buttons 8 francs picture of Captain Ross at Prince Regent's bay (1818) 25 francs . * Embarked at 11 am on the Champlain : at lunch conversed with a hotel-installer. Cable from Isabel. Sailed at 6.30 Promenade deck filled with World's Fair packing-cases. Jazz band in bar: homosexual otherwise nice. Stayed up until 2, when we arrived at S'hampton. Calm sea, sun all day. But he was not allowed to embark until 8 am.
