War Diary of 1st Battalion Canadian Scottish Regiment, Vol. 37, September 1, 1942 to September 30, 1942
The war diaries are official records kept by the Battalions during a one month period. They contain the daily orders, correspondence, newsletters, and an intelligence log detailing troop activities, locations, and weather conditions. The war diaries detail the activities and movement of the 1st Battalion from training in Canada and England to active duty on the Western Front and their return to Victoria in January 1946. This diary was kept while at Sandgate Park, West Sussex, England. It has entries about participating in various training programs and exercises, dinner and lecture by two commando heroes of the Dieppe Raid, getting a new commander, a Whitley Bomber crashing at a local farm with no serious injuries and guarding it while it was dismantled and removed, mainly minor injuries being incurred during training, lectures about security, and an inspection from the Princess Royal, among other activities and information.
