- Oct 11 Monday. To London by early train with Alix. Meet of foxhounds at bus: M.F.H, 2 huntsmen, whipper in, hounds. 'Get from under that bus, Galloway': 'Drawing the coverts at Malquoits' To 5 Nottingham St. Alan took us round houses in Hampstead: no use. [*] Norman, Alan, Audrey Beecham, Honor, L & I lunch at Café Royal. [*] Called on Tanny Brown North Way1 region: better. Chance meeting with Jenny & Peggy Hamilton in Baker St. Maisie back from Japan: dissociated Japanese people from army. Bought £3.10/- a 16th Century Spanish chest with drawers inlaid ivory hunting scenes (Mills) & a trade-bead necklace thrown in. Coffee at Prince Oysters at Princes (L, Alan & I). Supper at Canuto's with Maisie (who told of the visit to Her & His Excellency Tweedsmuir.) Home: arrived 11.12. Met by H in a car & dressing gown punctually at Cranleigh
