Transcript

• July 24 Sunday * My birthday. Dorothy arrived. B & A gave me a pot of honey, Laura an oil-can & case for my bicycle, the kitten NONO a packet of Gauloise. Juan & Anita with Miguel Gabriel & Juanita came out & we played 7¼ for 3 or 4 hours. They brought champagne & almond cakes. In the evening we sat round a wood fire in Laura's room with the mirror-candles lit. Later L & I talked to Dorothy about her trouble with M & Mary who is 16 years younger than him, and a mess.
