- July 21 Thursday Laura & I went to Rennes by the motor train, and returned by taxi having bought 2 beds, 2 tables, a cupboard for about £10 a bicycle (for about 25/-)and a lot of household things. Laura spent an hour not getting an extension of her carte de tourisme . Very hot day. The carpenters put up blinds & began Laura's clothes' cupboard. Modeste has a bedroom full of attic finery Alan & Beryl let in a bat. I blinded it with a flash light & killed it. I have lost all my unnecessary weight & feel very well.
