- February 22nd Friday. Wrote to A.E.S.G. promising money, [£]100, to children in Aug. & to repay their mother, also, [£]300 in October for past two years not paid. Arranged that children's financial year should begin in November: would undertake no yearly sum. Would promise Catherine should be a vet. Asked A.E.S.G. to tell Jenny to write to me if she wanted an introduction to Korda: & now that Jenny is 16, let her start her relationship with me afresh: if she respected my feelings I'd respect hers, I said. Got oranges from Ca'n Juni. A great many have been stolen during the full moon. A bunch of celandines from Ca'n Juni. Sirocco. Gave Karl the second third chapter of Antigua Penny Puce to type: and the poem Remembering War. Letter from Harrods: they had written to ask me to give a Famous Authors talk. I refused on grounds of domicile first & suggested that it was bad sales-psychology to call them 'Famous.' Suggested 'Favourite.' Harrods pleased at “learning from a layman,” and will change at once. Today we bought the Posada.
