ABSTRACT: First I started my interview with the date and the person that I was interviewing, in this case Stanley Willow. After, I asked his permission to record the interview and I asked him to give me a basic introduction about himself and his military career. He told me that he was part of Princes Patricia Battalion as a infantry officer. He continued to tell me about the Yugoslavian war, .and his pre-deployment in Yugoslavia. Later, he talked about the several times he was fired upon. One of the strengths of the interview was the story about his encounter with Radko Mladic. After that, he told me about the Siege of Sarajevo, and the "bending" of some UN rules . On this point, he told me a story when he picked up children to take them home, even though he was not allowed to do so. Also, he told me about mine removal, and about the devastation of the city of Mostar. When I asked him about UN casualties , he told me that one of his Finnish comrades was murdered by a Nigerian soldier, factor that upset the Finish forces. He explained that life back was difficult, considering that sometimes he would feel like a stranger. An interview/narrative of Lieutenant Colonel Stanley Willow's experiences whilst serving with the United Nations Protection Force. Interview took place on March 16, 2012.
